If accounts did get banned, it's possible that dhuum just destroyed the server.

geee exactly WHY should I be reading gw2 guru for a maintenance that is happening on the original guildwars?????

yes at one point they used to tell us about these things here...now we have to go and hunt for them (not even a log in announcement about it).....kinda feel like that puppy dog xmas gift--now that its older no one wants to take care of it.

It was posted in the Winds of Change thread. People were asking if it was related.

ah,.....though that brings up other questions----

upon reading what they accomplished (or what they said they accomplished), I am wondering why it required maintenance instead of just a new build: (from the wiki)

# Fixed a bug with the art for the Champion of Balthazar form.
# Fixed a bug that caused Zaishen PvP quests to award Luxon or Kurzick faction instead of Imperial faction.
# Fixed a bug that allowed some unranked guilds to use the guild emote

since it seems that their maintenance caused more grief than a new build would have.....or they just havent said what else was involved: "Ran a build to assist with back-end maintenance. "

That was the second update.

Build Update

* Ran a build to assist with back-end maintenance.

Guild Wars Wiki notes

* ANet performed hastily scheduled maintenance for one hour, starting at midnight PDT (0700 UTC).
* A warning was posted via Twitter and on the main website.
* Players online at the time were kicked out without warning. (Usually, ANet announces changes a few days in advance and sends a series of warnings in-game beforehand.)
* ANet has not yet posted details of the changes made.

Well, Lyssa knows my back end could use some maintenance.

OMG they shut down for an hour or so to tweak the servers. You would have thought that all female players got hexxed with "Dhuum is Your Baby Daddy" or something!
